Over 66 MT of E-waste Collected During Phase II of Special Drive Jaipur, November 15. E-waste is a major menace and one of the worst forms of pollution in the present day world. Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) has taken e-waste management as a challenge and recently conducted the second phase of its special e-waste collection drive beginning October 14, the International E-waste Day. During this, a record over 66 MT of e-waste was collected from different parts of the state. Board Chairperson Smt. Veenu Gupta said that E-waste Collection Drive Phase II was conducted in Bhilwara, Jodhpur, Alwar and Bhiwadi between October 14 and October 26, 2021. During this, various industries, government offices, business malls, shopping bazaars and residential areas were rigorously sanitized for e-waste collection. Along side, an awareness campaign was also conducted for safe e-waste handling, she added. A total of 66,257 kilograms of e-waste was collected and over Rs. 20 lakhs were paid off by the collection agents to the consumers who generated e-waste. Smt. Gupta said that it was very important to save the world from different pollutants, including e-waste. Citizens needed to be aware of the harmful effects caused by the e-waste on human health and its unscientific disposal process practiced by different informal sectors. The board’s special collection drive aimed at the safe processing of e-waste material, she added.  The board chairperson appealed to the citizens of the state for proper and responsible disposal of e-waste only through the authorized dismantlers, recyclers or collection centres. She said that the Board was taking conducting major IEC activities for sensitizing people on how to dispose-off e-waste in an environment-friendly manner. During the first phase of this special drive in the months of July and August 2021, about 11 MT e-waste was collected from the industrial areas in Jaipur, Kota and Udaipur, Smt. Gupta told. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) also participated in this campaign.
